Category

RXSOL-32-3113-025 is a specially formulated, silica-based product for reducing corrosion normally associated with marine and offshore potable/fresh water storage systems. Use this product into the storage tank will form a protective barrier-type film on internal metal surfaces. In addition, RXSOL-32-3113-025 will not impart any color, odor or taste to water being treated.

Potable Water System Corrosion Inhibitor is a concentrated, multi-functional corrosion control treatment formulated primarily with orthophosphates and stabilized zinc salts for use in potable and process-water distribution systems.

The product is designed to control corrosion by developing a thin, stable and evenly distributed protective film on internal metallic surfaces. The phosphate component assists in passivating and conditioning metal surfaces, while the zinc component enhances corrosion inhibition, particularly on ferrous metals.

The treatment is especially useful for aggressive waters having low hardness, low alkalinity or low mineral content, including RO permeate and lime-softened water, where untreated water may have a significant tendency to attack metallic distribution systems.

When correctly applied and maintained, the product can help reduce general corrosion, tuberculation, red-water problems and the release of corrosion products from iron, galvanized steel, copper and other compatible metallic components.

Application

It is use for protect the corrosion in Potable Water Tank, Pipe and Ballast water tank.

Prevent Red Water Systems using specialized corrosion protection package by RXSOL:

Potable Water System Corrosion Inhibitor is intended for corrosion-control programs involving:
  • Potable-water distribution networks;
  • Municipal water-treatment systems;
  • Industrial potable-water networks;
  • RO permeate distribution;
  • Desalinated-water distribution;
  • Lime-softened water;
  • Low-hardness and low-alkalinity water;
  • Steel and iron distribution piping;
  • Galvanized steel piping;
  • Compatible copper plumbing;
  • Mixed-metal water-distribution systems;
  • Storage and transfer systems where approved for the intended water service.
It may also be considered for systems experiencing:
  • Red or rusty water;
  • Elevated iron caused by pipe corrosion;
  • Premature pipe deterioration;
  • Pinhole leaks;
  • Corrosion-related maintenance;
  • Excessive metal release;
  • Aggressive RO/desalinated water;
  • Internal tuberculation and corrosion deposits.
Dose

A potable-water corrosion-control program should consider:

pH • alkalinity • hardness • chloride • sulphate • conductivity • dissolved inorganic carbon • temperature • disinfectant residual • phosphate residual • zinc concentration • iron • copper • lead

A fixed universal product dosage should not be specified until the product's actual SHMP and ZnCl₂ concentrations are known.

Copper and Lead Control

Appropriately designed phosphate-based corrosion-control programs may reduce the dissolution and release of copper and lead from plumbing systems.

However, performance is highly dependent on water chemistry, pipe age, existing scales, pH, alkalinity, disinfectant chemistry and phosphate species. For this reason, claims concerning lead or copper reduction should be supported by system-specific testing and monitoring.

Chlorinated / Chloraminated Systems

The product may be incorporated into corrosion-control programs used alongside chlorine or chloramine disinfection where the formulation and dosage are compatible with the applicable drinking-water treatment requirements.

Corrosion control can indirectly help maintain distribution-system integrity and reduce reactions associated with corrosion products. However, claims of reduced chlorine demand or reduced THM formation should be verified for the specific water system, as THM formation depends principally on disinfectant conditions and organic precursor chemistry.
